As a company, Datamark Systems had gone over 26 years with custom hand-written software tailored to our own needs. Because of hardware and personnel changes, we urgently needed to make a change. The search for new software to run our accounting system started in the 90's. Many companies were interviewed and one company's software was chosen - even though it didn't completely fit. We tried for almost 4 years to make it succeed while at the same time running our old custom accounting system.
In spring of 2002, we saw the Quantus software system for the first time. At first sight, we could see that it might fit our situation. After much management discussion, we chose this software, but only if it could do our very complex order entry.
By November 2002, we had completed a successful test with the software and we started planning for the conversion to the new system in January 2003. During the months of November and December, we had our present system converted to the Quantus system and did a dry run of our data with the important parts of the Quantus system. On January 1, 2003, we converted our data and went live with about 20 PC's. We now run about 60 PC's with Quantus.
As with all new systems, there were problems in the beginning but Quantus quickly fixed them. Over the last year, many changes were made to accommodate our accounting system. The Quantus system does more things than we could have ever imagined, making our accounting personnel much more productive.
Would anybody want to go back to the old system? NO! Are we happy? YES!
